Family

Carmit's mother Dina is of Dutch, Indonesian and Chinese descent and is a choreographer. Mrs. Van Minnen teaches dance to middle school students at Hubert Howe Bancroft Middle School in Los Angeles. She did teach Carmit a lot when she was younger. Whenever she has the chance, Carmit helps her mother in choreographing some of her advanced students dance moves for their winter and/or spring shows.
Her father Shlomo is Israeli and worked as pantomime with Marcel Marceau and also danced for Elvis Presley at the Broadway; he offered dance lessons in his own dance club in Los Angeles.
Carmit has two younger brothers. Her grandmother died in Summer 2007 at age 92. In a pcdmusic.com-blog Carmit said about the loss: "What an incredible woman. She lived a full healthy life and always had a smile. She loved to sing and dance and make you laugh with jokes."
